Located within Watkins Regional Park, the Chesapeake Carousel is believed to have been constructed by Gustav Dentzel at the turn of the century. The carousel operated at Chesapeake Beach through 1972. Restoration of the unique handcrafted carousel animals was completed in 1985. The carousel is open to the public seasonally, and provides delightful experiences for the young and the young-at-heart. All aboard the Watkins "Express" for a scenic, relaxing ride through Watkins Regional Park! Constructed in the late 1960's, this miniature train is a replica 1863 C.P. Huntington locomotive with three coaches. Travel through lush, green parkland and scenic woodlands, past Old Maryland Farm. Open seasonally, the miniature train is fun for people of all ages.
