I do not know the dates of this Park..Snipsic Park...but it was noted as a popular Amusement Park in the late 1890's.


A map above shows a railroad grade. It goes up north to Crystal Lake. It was actually a Trolley Line. It went to Crystal Lake and onward to Stafford Springs. The first picture is of unknown Park as the only thing said on it was -- Rockville, Connecticut 1910.


In 1912, service was opened between Rockville and Hartford. The Stafford route was extended along the present Rt-30 to join the Rockville Trolley at Crystal Lake. The Rockville Trolley had extended from Grove Street Station first to Shenipsit Lake, passing through what is now the Saint Bernard Cemetery. Crossed present Rt74 & up the East side of the Lake past the now gone recreation site. It later was extended to the Crystal Lake Hotel.....
