Walnut Beach, Milford,Connecticut

Comments in newsgroup 2004 ---- As a kid growing up in Milford in the '50's, we often went with my grandparents to Walnut Beach, along the Sound between Milford and Devon. They had a carousel, small roller coaster, boats, cars, an airplane ride and later on a ferris wheel. It was a very small place, and my Grandparents being the outgoing sort they were, they soon made friends with the family running it - two brothers and a sister, as I recall. They later sold out to a family named Smith that ran a roller rink behind the property. It all went to urban renewal and a state beach in the mid '60's. According to my parents, the trolley, either Conn. Co. or CR and L I suppose, ran down the center of the street on a median. -- Fond memories.
