--- it seems that the park closed mostly due to a rampage inside the park by 500 teens in 1965, wrecking the park and scaring away customers for weeks after. After this incident, attendance levels remained low for the rest of the season, and ultimately, the owner of the park announced that Olympic Park would not be reopening for the 1966 season. Many rides were sold off, and the park remained empty and destroyed until the late 1970s when work began on an industrial park.
