Ten parks dot the landscape in and around Sykesville. It is through these parks that residents have preserved the history of their town. Some of the parks have playground equipment affording younger residents to play in an element all their own. One of the more popular parks for children is the Little Sykes Railroad Park. Open May-October, children are able to ride a 1949 twelve gauge children's model train. Boys and girls of all ages love the opportunity to ride on this small model train while moms and dads wave and take pictures. Other parks, such as Piney Run Park offer boat rentals and excellent fishing along with a hiking trail and nature center.
