  • Old Carousel at Atlantic Beach

  • Little is known about the area except the Casino opened in 1911 and the beach area furthur developed and was often known as Pleasant View Beach and Misquamicut.

Nestled on the south shore of Rhode Island overlooking Block Island and the tip of Long Island, the first parcel of this property was purchased in 1920 from the Norwich Trolley Company by Julia and Harry Trefes. They and their two sons later purchased more parcels of land and buildings, totaling 12 acres. The property is still owned and operated by members of the Trefes family.

The original name was "Atlantic Beach Casino", meaning a place to come, meet your friends, sit, enjoy the sun and swim in the beautiful surf.

Atlantic Beach Park retains the same old-fashioned charm that characterized beach recreational areas of years gone by, including a carousel with antique band organ, kiddie amusement rides, bumper cars, game room, parking, shower and bath house facilities, hot dogs, ice cream and much much more.
