Include this? I have seen several references to a miniature train in Caribou but anything about it seems lost. It came from an amusement park in New Brunswick, Canada. Although it is noted it was set up and operated in Caribou during a Winter Carnival with tracks laid down Maine Street it would be guessed it was operated at other times on the tracks where it resided. A train with no tracks? I mean you don't lay railroad tracks for a 3 day operation ?
In 1945, I returned from service and immediately began restoring the engines to working order. During their stay on the Island Park, supervision was not available from our family; and at times, the soldiers tried to operate them -- they needed a great deal of restoration. On completion, I tried to encourage several business people with no luck. The locomotives, coaches and rails were eventually sold to Lewis Bearce of Caribou, Maine. One year during the Winter Carnival, he had tracks laid down Main Street and operated them during the event. At his death, the locomotives were sold to a professional ballplayer in North Carolina.
