Stratham Hill has long been a center of activity in our town and this year marks the 100th anniversary of this town treasure. During Town Meeting in March of 1906 residents voted to accept the gift of 70 acres of land at Stratham Hill and to create a town Park. The land was given to the town by Edward Tuck in honor of his father Amos Tuck, a resident of Exeter who was well known and respected throughout New Hampshire. Mr. Tuck stated that the land was given for the free use and enjoyment of the residents of Stratham and the surrounding communities. And over the years, many in the Seacoast have done just that.

In 1908 the first Park flag pole was raised at the top of Stratham Hill just in time for Old Home Day. During the early 1900's the town had an annual Old Home Day celebration at the Park each summer. The celebrations included field games (races, baseball games, contests), entertainment and lots of food!

In 1963 the Corbin brothers of Stratham ran a ski hill on part of Stratham Hill for about three seasons. The one run began near the tower and went straight down to Rt. 33. The rope tow that was used to get skiers up the hill was run by an old school bus. The seats from the bus were taken out and brought to the bottom of the hill where skiers used them to sit on while changing into their skies.
