-- was developed in 1901 by the Lexington & Boston Street Railway Company. Located in a pine grove, the 48 acre recreation area contained roller skating, bowling alleys, ballfields, picnic groves, penny arcade and an 1800 seat amphitheater. A restaurant served delicious lunches and dinners, along with soda fountain treats, while a miniature train, merry-go-round, loop-the-loop, laughing gallery and a Ferris Wheel provided the thrills. It was noted for its extensive zoological exhibits by Park Manager John T. Benson who later established his famous Benson's Animal Farm in Hudson, New Hampshire. The park closed during the 1920's....
As at Norumbega, an amusement park was built in Lexington near the Bedford town line, to attract riders from the city.
