It had memorabilia of Hawaii's railroads, including a replica of a Kalakaua passenger car. It projected 630,000 guests a year but never came close to it. Within a few years it shut down. (seemed to open again...)
Located on the north shore of the island of Oahu, Hawaii, the Kahuku Sugar Mill operated from 1890 to 1971, when the cost of producing sugar became too expensive. The mill operated as an amusement park for a few years until it closed for good. The remains were demolished in 2004. The little locomotive was used to move the sugar cane from the fields to the mill. Most large plantations had their own railroads. The Kahuku Mill was also serviced by the Oahu Railway and the Koolau Railway.
