Plum Island is nine miles long and divided between four towns--- Newbury, Newburyport, Ipswich and Rowley. A bridge was built to connect Plum Island to the mainland 1806, and during the late 19th century as a resort Plum Island was on steamship schedules and even had a trolley line. Much on the island has been virtually destroyed or destroyed by storms over the years......
