Subject:Carousel

Yes, at one point we did have an operational Carousel here at Stone Zoo, however the ride itself was never owned by Zoo New England but contracted out and a revenue share program was implemented with the owner. The Carousel that we did have running here for many years was an antique carousel and usually was only operated by the owner himself. Due to personal reasons, many years of operation, and the new stricter state laws and insurance policies, the owner of the carousel decided a few years ago not to operate his carousel at Stone Zoo anymore. Ever since, Zoo New England has tried to replace the carousel with another one similar, but as always funding a large purchase like that always becomes a major issue. A nice carousel to fit in that spot where the previous one was could easily cost the ZNE $50,000 $100,000 or much more. We thank our state of Massachusetts for being strict and considering our guest safety when visiting much larger amusement parks with massive rides but unfortunately these new rules and regulations affect much smaller non-profit organizations such as ourselves and put limitations on what we are able to do and fund.

We are doing our best to offer our guests the best we can with the financial support we have
