Spring of 1997 saw the creation of WUMM with a signal strength of 1-watt and a listening range of just one mile from campus, with the station being located in Kimball Hall.

In 2001, Internet streaming was added, which brought WUMM to anyone with an Internet connection.

In December of 2008, the FCC granted WUMM’s request to increase to 100-watts, which expanded the listening range to roughly a 60-mile radius around campus.

In early 2015, the station was moved to Torrey Hall due to Kimball Hall being vacated because of structural concerns.

In 2016 the FCC granted WUMM’s request to expand to 250-watts; this was followed by the construction of a new 50 foot tower and the installations of new bays. WUMM moved once again in October of 2016 with a new home in the Reynolds Center.
